Ross Perot, Jr., chairman of Hillwood Properties, developer of the 17,000-acre AllianceTexas in north Fort Worth, has been selected by Real Estate Forum magazine as one of the 65 “Industry Legends and Icons.”
The magazine published the list in its 65th anniversary issue. The list recognizes figures and events that have had a significant impact on commercial real estate during the past 65 years.
Industry icons Trammell Crow, David Rockefeller, John Cushman III and Roger Staubach are on the list.
Perot was selected for his leadership in establishing Fort Worth Alliance Airport, the world’s first industrial airport, and in creating the Alliance Global Logistics Hub, one of the nation’s first and largest inland ports. The airport and the logistics hub are two key components of Hillwood’s AllianceTexas, a 17,000-acre master-planned, mixed-use community that Perot envisioned and developed in north Fort Worth, beginning more than 20 years ago.
To date, Alliance has had a cumulative economic impact of nearly $40 billion on the North Texas economy, creating more than 30,000 jobs. The project is 40 percent developed.
Hillwood President Mike Berry said Perot “thinks in terms of what is going to happen in the coming decades, and frames his strategy accordingly. As a result of this visionary approach, he is constantly out in front of the market, creating valued developments that have a lasting impact.”
