DICK’S Sporting Goods To Build ‘Next-Gen’ Distribution Center in Fort Worth

Dallas-based Hillwood will develop and build the “next-gen” 800K-SF regional distribution center at one of its own logistics parks in South Fort Worth. To be built with an array of sustainability initiatives, the center is expected to bring 300 new full-time jobs to the region over the next decade.

Pittsburgh-based DICK’S Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS) has announced plans to build an 800,000-square-foot regional distribution center in South Fort Worth. The project is expected to bring 300 new full-time jobs to the region over the next decade, the company said.

The “next-generation facility” is slated to support DICK’S business in Texas while boosting distribution capabilities to more than 100 DICK’S Sporting Goods stores across several states, the company added.

The center will be located on a nearly 90-acre site within Hillwood’s Risinger/35 Logistics Park, at Risinger Road and Old Burleson Road in South Fort Worth.

Dallas-based Hillwood, the developer of AllianceTexas, will develop and construct the new build-to-suit project along with Hillwood Construction Services.

Why Fort Worth was chosen

DICK’S said it selected Fort Worth as the distribution center site “for its business-friendly environment, qualified and reliable workforce, and proximity to DICK’S existing—and expanding—physical footprint across Texas.”

The existing DICK’S distribution network includes five other facilities in Atlanta, Georgia; Conklin, New York; Goodyear, Arizona; Plainfield, Indiana; and Smithton, Pennsylvania.

Sean Whitehouse, DICK’S SVP of supply chain, said the Fort Worth facility “will support the rapid growth of our business, including in the state of Texas, and enable more efficient and effective flow of product to athletes whether they shop in-store or online”

“We’re also excited to play an active role in the Fort Worth community,” Whitehouse added in a statement.

Hillwood SVP Reid Goetz called DICK’S Sporting Goods “a best-in-class company with a premier brand.”

“We’re proud they have selected Fort Worth and our highly experienced, vertically integrated Hillwood industrial development team for this substantial new facility investment and supply chain network expansion,” Goetz added in a statement.

Sustainability to be built in

DICK’S said the new Fort Worth facility will pursue sustainability initiatives including high-efficiency lighting and HVAC, recycled and environmentally friendly construction materials, energy management systems, and recycling programs for corrugate and plastics.

Groundbreaking for the project is slated for early this fall, with the building phase expected to produce “more than 800 temporary construction jobs to the area,” DICK’S said.

The facility is slated to open in early 2026.

Kris Bjorson, Jamie Galati and Blake Rogers of JLL represented DICK’S Sporting Goods and Reid Goetz, Samuel Rhea, and Jack Barkley represented Hillwood in the transaction. Stream’s National Program Management team under the leadership of Joe Iatauro and Patrick Daugherty are providing owner’s representative services, overseeing Hillwood in the development of the new distribution center. GSR is the project’s lead architect and Westwood is the civil engineering design firm for the project.
